ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture Therapy in Tempe Arizona

BodyWise Chiropractic is now offering Acupuncture as an add-on service to chiropractic care! Each session focuses on either the region of your discomfort or general wellness and well-being and adds about 30 minutes to your treatment.

Dr. Bobbie Bennett trained with Dr. John Amaro, an internationally known chiropractor, and acupuncturist through the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture Inc.  The IAMA is an institute of higher learning dedicated to teaching physicians of all disciplines both the ancient as well as contemporary principles of Acupuncture.

Is Acupuncture Effective?

In 1996, the FDA gave acupuncture its first U.S. seal of approval, when it classified acupuncture needles as medical devices. In the 20 years since, study after study indicates that, yes, acupuncture can work.

Many of these alternative techniques, including acupuncture, works by activating the body’s own self-healing mechanism.

Acupuncture Benefits

Acupuncture is a good option for anyone who wants to complement their regular care plan with another treatment method. Acupuncture can help improve your overall well-being, much like yoga, meditation, stretching, and massage therapy.
Acupuncture is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions, including:
  • Headaches, including tension headaches and migraines
  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Respiratory disorders, such as allergic rhinitis
  • Sinus pressure
  • Shoulder pain/frozen shoulder
At BodyWise Chiropractic, we also offer protocols for hormone balance as well as labor induction for patients at full term.

Is Acupuncture Painful?

Acupuncture needles are very thin, and most people feel no or very little discomfort when they are inserted. They often say they feel energized or relaxed after the treatment. However, the needles can cause temporary soreness.

Are There Any Risks for using Acupuncture?

The risks of acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner using sterile needles. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising where the needles were inserted. Single-use, disposable needles are now the practice standard, so the risk of infection is minimal.
Acupuncture has few side effects, so it may be worth a try if you’re having trouble controlling pain with more conventional methods.
